Map objectives

Soul Urn

When it happens: From minute 10, then on a five-minute schedule

Carry the Urn from one side lane to the other. Its delivery point is marked on the map. The Urn and Rift are independent objectives; a delivery does not trigger a Rift.

What you gain
Souls for the delivery and permanent buffs for the courier. Delivery releases soul orbs that allies can secure and enemies can deny.
How to approach it
Check the route and enemy positions first. Escort the courier and cover the delivery. Carrying it for too long reduces its value; the next appearance also depends on the previous Urn’s state.

Unstable Rift

When it happens: Periodically, with a variable arrival time and advance warning

A capture zone appears on a side-lane bridge. Teams contest the area; an in-world effect and a global announcement warn of its location and arrival.

What you gain
Team souls and a wave of empowered Rift Troopers in that lane. Rewards and capture conditions account for a team’s net-worth deficit.
How to approach it
Spend your souls, push the nearby lane and control the approaches before it arrives. Use the empowered wave to pressure the lane afterwards. Follow the announcement rather than expecting a single exact spawn minute.

Mid-Boss

When it happens: Available from match start; returns after being killed

A powerful neutral boss beneath the middle lane. To damage it, stand inside its arena and break through its regenerating shield.

What you gain
Souls and permanent buffs for the killing team, plus a Rejuvenator crystal. The crystal must still be claimed separately.
How to approach it
Start when your team has enough damage and controls the entrances. Save some crowd control for enemies contesting the crystal. Check the in-game timer for its next appearance.
More about this mechanic

Rejuvenator

When it happens: After the Mid-Boss dies; the buff has a limited duration

A crystal descends into the arena. Once it can be claimed, heavy melee hits grant Rejuvenation Credits to the attacker’s team. Enemies can claim them too.

What you gain
Shared team credits that revive eligible allies where they died. Each hero can use Rejuvenation once; both the credit supply and duration are limited.
How to approach it
Assign one player to claim while others guard the entrances and stop steals. Cover an ally’s return location in the next fight; a credit does not make that location safe.

Resources and buffs

Small neutral camps

When it happens: From minute 2; return after the entire camp is cleared

The most accessible Haunt camps between lanes. Fit them into a short route while your lane wave pushes forward.

What you gain
Haunted Souls that gradually become secured and can be lost on death.
How to approach it
Do not miss a full lane wave for a camp. Clear every Haunt: leaving one alive delays the camp’s return.
More about this mechanic

Medium neutral camps

When it happens: From minute 5; return after the entire camp is cleared

Tougher camps between lanes. Hybrid camps can include both Haunts and Sinner’s Sacrifice machines.

What you gain
Haunted Souls; the value of neutral enemies grows throughout the match.
How to approach it
Watch your health and missing enemies. Clear both Haunts and machines in a hybrid camp to meet its full-clear condition.
More about this mechanic

Large neutral camps

When it happens: From minute 8; return after the entire camp is cleared

The most dangerous regular camps. Clearing them early takes a meaningful amount of time and health.

What you gain
A larger supply of Haunted Souls.
How to approach it
Compare the clear time with the next team objective. Take a large camp when you have enough damage and map information to finish without being trapped.
More about this mechanic

Crates and Tough Crates

When it happens: Regular locations from minute 3; some locations follow different schedules

Breakable objects throughout the city. Regular crates can drop souls. Tough Crates require a heavy melee hit and guarantee a reward.

What you gain
Haunted Souls; destroyed crates return over time.
How to approach it
Collect crates while travelling between useful locations. Tunnels and central rooms have exceptions, so do not expect every crate to appear at once.

Buff Containers

When it happens: Usually from minute 3; buff strength increases at minutes 10 and 30

The revamped Golden Statues can drop permanent stat bonuses. Breaking a container is not enough: pick up the buff it drops.

What you gain
Small permanent bonuses to health, weapon, spirit and other stats. They stack and persist through death.
How to approach it
Check containers along familiar routes and collect their drops. These are different from the temporary powerups found on bridges.
More about this mechanic

Bridge powerups

When it happens: From minute 5, then every 5 minutes

Temporary powerups appear on bridges. There are four types: Gun, Casting, Movement and Survival. Their minimap icons show the type.

What you gain
Gun improves firing and ammunition; Casting improves spirit and cooldowns; Movement improves mobility and stamina; Survival improves health and regeneration.
How to approach it
Claim a powerup with a heavy melee hit and use it before an important objective. Watch its HUD duration: the buff is temporary and is lost on death.
More about this mechanic

Sinner’s Sacrifice

When it happens: From minute 8; standalone machines return 5 minutes after being broken

A machine that pays souls when hit with melee attacks, but retaliates before its final phase. It ends with a timing minigame using its lights.

What you gain
Souls for hits and completion. Hitting the jackpot window grants permanent buffs; a heavy melee jackpot gives more than a light one.
How to approach it
Keep enough health and watch the lights: the final rhythm varies. A machine in a hybrid camp also needs the neighbouring Haunts cleared before the location can return.
More about this mechanic

Healing Snacks

When it happens: 2 minutes 30 seconds into the match; return 3 minutes after pickup

Floating consumables, often above ground level. Move close to collect them; they are not marked on the minimap.

What you gain
Restore a portion of your maximum health over several seconds.
How to approach it
Learn reachable locations near your lane. Combine pickups with a crate route and keep some stamina if enemies could be nearby.
More about this mechanic

Dropped Soul Bag

When it happens: When a hero dies carrying enough Haunted Souls

Souls from neutral sources gradually become secured. If a hero dies sooner, a large enough remaining amount drops on the ground as a bag marked on the map.

What you gain
A player from either team can claim the bag’s contents with a heavy melee hit.
How to approach it
Check for bags after a skirmish, once it is safe. Avoid needless risks while carrying many Haunted Souls: dying can hand your farm to the enemy.

Lanes and siege

Lane trooper waves

When it happens: Regularly throughout the match

Troopers advance along lanes towards the enemy base, fight and move the front line. Kills release soul orbs that can be secured or denied.

What you gain
Your main steady lane income, map pressure and support when sieging.
How to approach it
Check the wave’s direction before leaving your lane. Bring allied troopers to an objective before attacking its backdoor protection.
More about this mechanic

Lane Guardian destroyed

When it happens: The first defensive layer in each lane

A Guardian protects the opening section of a lane. Losing it opens the path forward and closes its associated lane shop for the defending team.

What you gain
Objective souls and access towards the enemy Walker.
How to approach it
Use an advantage in waves and player numbers. After a Guardian falls, expand map control and watch for the enemy’s response.
More about this mechanic

Walker destroyed

When it happens: The next defensive layer after the lane Guardian

A Walker protects the approach to the base. Its attacks and defences make a solo siege without a wave risky.

What you gain
Team souls and an extra item slot for each enemy Walker destroyed.
How to approach it
Bring allied troopers and use a window when enemies are dead or occupied elsewhere. After destroying it, review purchases using the newly unlocked slot.
More about this mechanic

Base Guardians destroyed

When it happens: After the Walker; a pair guards each base entrance

Destroying one pair of Base Guardians in any lane is enough to make the Shrines vulnerable.

What you gain
Souls, vulnerable Shrines and a permanent express zipline in that lane.
How to approach it
Push a wave to the entrance. Once the pair falls, judge whether you have time for a Shrine before the defenders return.
More about this mechanic

Shrines destroyed

When it happens: After at least one pair of Base Guardians has fallen

Two Shrines protect the Patron. While either survives, the Patron remains invulnerable.

What you gain
Souls and stronger troopers in the associated lane; destroying both exposes the Patron.
How to approach it
Avoid the Patron’s defensive attacks. After taking one Shrine, check your team’s health and enemy respawn timers before committing to the second.
More about this mechanic

Patron enters its second phase

When it happens: After both Shrines and the Patron’s first form are destroyed

The Patron changes form and moves into the base pit. There is a transition between phases during which you cannot finish the match.

What you gain
Access to the final objective: the Weakened Patron.
How to approach it
Regroup, reload and check the defenders during the transition. Destroying the first form does not win the match.
More about this mechanic

Weakened Patron defeated

When it happens: The final phase of the base siege

The Patron’s final form sits in its pit. Attackers must enter to damage it; defenders inside strengthen its protection.

What you gain
Victory for the team that destroys the enemy Patron.
How to approach it
Create a safe entrance and remove defenders from the pit first. If your team cannot finish in time, preserve your heroes and prepare the next wave.
